1000kVA Transformer Asset replacement
ESE replaced an ageing 1000kVA transformer on a UK Ministry of Defence site, managing the full process from isolation and cable identification, through to installation, testing and commissioning.
Problem
Our customer needed to replace an old 1000kVA transformer on an MOD site in the UK. The works had to be completed safely under strict site procedures, with clear coordination with the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and no risk of disrupting other critical supplies or cutting the wrong cable.
Solution
Once the correct paperwork had been received from the site SAP, ESE’s engineers used a cable identifier to confirm the correct cable before any cutting took place. The existing cable was then safely removed from the old transformer.
We supplied and installed 240 metres of new high-voltage cable between the existing switchgear and the replacement 1000kVA transformer, after positioning the new unit securely on its plinth. All necessary testing was completed to confirm satisfactory performance and compliance, and the works were delivered within the agreed timescales.
